Formed from the ashes of Parma hardcore band GRIMACE, in summer of 1988. Grimace included future Slugs members John Kriz on bass, Steve Glorioso on drums, and Tony Zamboni on vocals, alongside Chris Boone on guitar. When Chris split from Grimace they recruited guitarist PJ Shaheen and became The Slugs Of Susej, named by bassist John Kriz after he saw "Jesus" on a refrigerator and flipped it upside and saw it said "Susej".
