A.k.a. Blue Öyster Cult
Soft White Underbelly was the original name of the band that would eventually become Blue Öyster Cult. The band consisted of future BOC mainstays Donald Roeser, Albert Bouchard, and Allen Lanier, along with vocalist Les Braunstein and bassist Andy Winters. The members came together in 1967 and stayed together until Braunstein left in 1969. He was replaced by Eric Bloom, who had previously been an engineer for the band, and soon after changed their name to the Stalk-Forrest Group before becoming Blue Öyster Cult in 1971. Soft White Underbelly recorded an album's worth of material but the record was scrapped after Les Braunstein left the band. Some Soft White Underbelly recordings have appeared as bonus tracks on Blue Öyster Cult reissues.
