Soldercup is Rhodri Davies and Louisa Hendrikien Martin. Rhodri Davies plays harp, electric harp, live electronics and builds wind, water and fire harp installations. His regular groups include a duo with John Butcher, Broken Consort, Common Objects, Cranc, Portable, SLW, Apartment House, The Sealed Knot and a trio with David Toop and Lee Patterson. In 2008 he collaborated with the visual artist Gustav Metzger on ‘Self-Cancellation’, a large-scale audio-visual collaboration in London and Glasgow. He also performs and researches contemporary music. He has commissioned new works for the harp by Carole Finer, Catherine Kontz, Michael Parsons, Christian Wolff, Ben Patterson, Mieko Shiomi and Yasunao Tone. Louisa Hendrikien Martin is an artist working with live sound and visual performance, often testing ideas live in front of an audience. She has performed with a number of musicians including Otomo Yoshihide, Lee Patterson, Phil Minton and Angharad Davies, and in the group Portable with Rhodri Davies and artist Benedict Drew. Recent projects include a soundtrack for 16mm film De Magnete by Kathleen Herbert, commissioned by firstsite, and research into performed stillness in relation to the film-still and performance documentation.
