Album UK 2014 on Sonar's Ghost label
Dance (Drum’n’Bass, Broken Beat, Hardcore)
Pdf included with download: Ok, so a little stream of consciousness on this release. Whilst doing music full time I had my fair share of pseudonyms, purely out of the need to release as much of the music I was making over a spread of labels without restricting the scope or sound of one identity, and in turn enabling me to collaborate with friends to give these projects their own separate identities. In 2011 I had been ‘retired’ a while, had my first child and left music very well alone for a few years. About this time the Two Hungry Ghosts blog started to collect and showcase retro Jungle/DnB being made by known/unknown producers, young and old, of which helped re- ignite my passion for all things Hardcore and Junglistical. This feeling of bringing back the Jungle sounds from 20 years ago has resonated through all of dance music for a while now, spurring endless Footwork, Garage or Slo-Mo House genre mangles of the classics, but nevertheless leaving you thinking nothing can really touch the originals. Still it is encouraging for new takes and angles to be out there on the classics, drawing in new ears and energy. After all, 20 years ago I started on a journey hungry for the knowledge and vibe from the music of the 70’s and beyond...and so the cycle goes on. In contrast to the original idea of using pseudonyms, here I was reluctant to come back into the public eye but still very much wanting to contribute to this on-going revival. I was interested to see the reception for these experiments as it wasn’t explicit they were by me, so I could see them judged on their own merit. I was also keen to not have to contribute to their promotion or get involved personally in comment or opinion, something I still actively avoid now. I am aware of the social media circus that prevails when ‘Domu’ is mentioned coming back or whatever, so now after the Sector 12/12 release has diverted a bit of that attention I feel a little easier about claiming responsibility for all this work. These have all been available for free previously, but I am putting them up here with the never released ‘Going Home’ and ‘Show You ‘89’ for preservation purposes as the THG blog is sadly no more. This collection of music is very much homage to my past, each one from a different period or influence of an artist or style. The Hidden is clearly Source Direct and Blue Note ‘Headz’, My Enemy’s Enemy is the proto- darkcore of Production House or Absolute Two. Bukem, Wax Doctor, 4Hero and even DJ SS all get a nod in this lot, with a random dash of Mr Fingers to boot. Also worth a nerdy mention is two of the pseudonyms here mark my return to an interest in Italian Horror, plopping the ‘Two Evil Eyes’ (George A .Romero and Dario Argento) into the referential melting pot. Thank you for your custom. I no longer depend on this income to feed my family, but if I wait long enough I can dip in and buy some posh ice cream now and again. - Dominic Stanton August 2014
