Producer of Dance
A.k.a. Barry Nicklin B. Nicklin
Barry Nicklin was a DJ, producer and club promoter most famously part of the renowned Bust The Box party posse in Brighton which started back in the '90s and is still going in some sort of form today. Club events at the Hobgoblin pub and later at Hector's House were legendarily hedonistic and outrageous affairs. The music policy was always diverse and eclectic, shorn of fashion and trend but always entirely credible. Aphex Twin, Richie Havens, Otis Redding, Lee Perry just a few of the artists I remember being played. Hip hop, funk, soul, house, breaks and electronica converging in mighty eight hour sessions. "Good Music Played By Idiots" - that was their catchphrase. Sadly Dennis Sherez, the mainspring of Bust The Box, passed away in 2006 and Barry, god rest his soul, passed in 2010. RIP. Barry aka Sonic Boo produced several tracks with Bushy & Professor, appearing on Brighton's Catskills record label.
