Live at Marunouchi Hotel, Tokyo, Japan, September 19, 1963. Tracks 6 & 7 are bonus tracks. Broadcast, "Bandstand USA" Café Bohemia, NYC, October 10, 1956. This release contains a splendid and never before heard Japan performance by Sonny Rollins in a quintet featuring Paul Bley and, on one track, backed bya Japanese combo. Betty Carter sings two outstanding songs with the rhythm section. As a bonu, we present a rare 1956 broadcast by Rollins with the first incarnation of the Max Roach Quintet after Clifford Brown's tragic death.
