Folk (Celtic, Folk)
Red walls and tables with golden waitresses dancing between mirrors, with artificial smiles that carry only as far as the dim light that crawls from the dirty chandeliers, surrounded me. A onetime friend with no body, and a weak head that vanishes with the warmth of my hand and flows under the name of Draft, sat in front of me. Faces with no names called my attention. I smiled in their direction. seeing noone I sat and drank my one time friend. From the west came a wind and on it's back the note of the swallow. The first note that called the sun from its slumber and chased darkness from the eyes of man. The tear-stained face of the drunkard smiled, as on the stage stood "THE SONS OF ERIN." The dreams of a hundred song writers filled the room, and the Sons of Erin smiled in deadly earnest, delighting in the fear that precedes the feeling of satisfaction. With strings of steel and nylon they moved from one dream to another then a voice, weathered in life, carried a haunting melody to the very depths of everyone's soul. The voice was that of Ralph O'Brien, leader of The Sons of Erin. Laughter comes in the form of Bob O'Donovan, a man of parts. He can disassemble and rearrange himself around comedy or delight everyone with his ability on the Fiddle and mandolin. A boyish smile stands behind a five string banjo and concertina. But with the music his fingers twist, and the love and knowledge he has for his music, Allen Flyn shares with everyone. With his guitar by his side, Brian Connelly holds to his lips a whistle, and with every breath, notes dance from his finger-tips. Time, the thief of pleasure, has passed and my onetime friend is no more. I thank Ralph O'Brien and the "SONS OF ERIN" for taking me in so many directions, away from myself and this world.
