A.k.a. Nick Cashmore

Drum & Bass producer & DJ from Chagford, UK Sound Tactix (Nick Cashmore) has been a fan of electronic music since the age of 14 when he was introduced to artists such as EZ Rollers, Photek, LTJ Bukem and Dillinja just to name a few. An interest in listening to electronic music, drum and bass especially, became a very serious hobby around the age 16 which is when his first pair of turntables were bought, and Nick hasn’t been able to leave the music alone since. Primarily with an interest in Djing from a young age Nick went on to attain a double distinction from the Academy Of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford in DJ Skills, production, composition and music business, where he was taught on a weekly basis by the likes of Chad Jackson (1987 DMC World Champion and producer of ‘Hear the Drummer Get Wicked’), J-Me (House/breaks producer and formerly a turntablist for Hybrid during the production of their huge album ‘Wide Angle’) and Prof. Stretch (co-producer of the seminal jungle tune ‘Dub War’ by ‘Dance Conspiracy’ on XL Recordings as well as producing for ‘The Underwolves’). Next up was the completion of a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honours from Southampton Solent University where once again Nick was able to learn from some fantastic lecturers in their own fields, whilst also beginning to get to grips with the more serious side of music production. The three years spent in Southampton really opened his eyes to the many different forms of electronic music, past and present, and the many different ways that it can be interpreted, analysed and enjoyed. Since leaving university the goal has been to get his head down and focus all his spare time on the production of electronic music. The last couple of years have seen releases on labels including 96kHz Productions, Liquid Drumz, Pitbull Recordings, SP Breakz, Sonata Recordings and Liquid Tones, whilst also co-organising and warming up at events showcasing artists such as Random Movement and S.P.Y. With a workload currently bigger than it has ever been before you can expect a lot more to come from Sound Tactix over the next couple of years, including a debut album due towards the end of 2012 on Sonata Recordings.
