Recording for "Movie Monster" began in November 2003 and was completed in September 2005 at Big Orange, an analog studio housed in an abandoned record-pressing plant in Austin, Texas. Additional recording was done at WIRE RECORDING and at Tree Fort, also in Austin. All songs were recorded on MCI and Otan 2" tape machines. Tracks 2-4, 6-8, 10, and 11 were produced and engineered at Big Orange and Wire. Tracks 1 and 5 were produced and engineered at Big Orange. Track 9 was produced and engineered at Tree Fort and Wire. Tracks 3 and 6 mixed at Blackbird in Nashville, Tennessee. Tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7-11 were mixed at Assault and Battery in London.
