Sprangeen was a band of seven women musicians based in Edinburgh. The group was formed in May 1982 to play for the first "Women Live in Scotland" festival. The members at the time of the release of the album "Sprangeen" in 1984 were Kathleen King, Marta McGlynn, Mary MacMaster, Rosa Michaelsen, Val Peek, Patsy Seddon and Ann Ward. They played traditional Scottish music.
