Band, *1995 DE
Rock
Spread was a nu-metal band from Paderborn (Germany), which was formed in 1995. They released a 2-track Demo CD in 1996 (at this time they played hardcore). In early 2000 they released their Demo EP "The Whole Nine Yards", which was recorded on easter 2000. They broke up in 2002. After that, singer Eric moved to London and formed the band LozeK, Sinu played in Woof, Oli in Beggamen, David in Greed 82 and Jan in Diatribe. Formed in January 2000, SPREAD have already created a huge fanbase with only a handful concerts under their belt, but with an energetic live performance equal to many American "New Breed" bands, SPREAD deliver the punch that most bands from Europe lack, promising to be THE SICKEST BAND to come from Germany. With the advantage of a line up of Multi-Nationals of American, English, Indian and German, SPREAD have released their Self Produced Debut E.P. titled "THE WHOLE NINE YARDS" (which also includes a multi-media section on the CD including a Full Music Video) has had them compared to the likes of DEFTONES, LIMP BIZKIT and ULTRASPANK, but also adding a new twist as opposed to being a direct copy as is the case with many other bands today. With the varied Vocal Range of ERIC FORTIN, starting with a gentle whisper can suddenly transform into a psychopathic scream, the Drum Beats supplied by JAN, could be as Hip-Hop as Busta Ryhmes one minute, then change in a second to a Hardcore tempo. The dynamics of OLL and SINU's Guitaring technique, trading off riff's with each other like their lives depend on it, are one moment Brutal Punches to the ear then so melodic you kind of wonder when the tune had changed. Completed by the Bass rumbling's by DAVID JOHN BRIAN, which can be as funky as the Chili Peppers and as pounding as Slayer, all add to create the sound that is SPREAD. Sick music has never sounded this good you have all been warned.. be afraid..BE VERY AFRAID
