Mexican songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known as Sr. González started playing in a progressive rock band called Partenón, moving later to Latin jazz act ZYK. In 1987, the talented musician formed a short-term project called Baraja, composing its own music. The following year, Sr. González was invited to join Botellita de Jerez, working along with Fratta and Café Tacuba while playing in the band. When Botellita de Jerez broke up in 1997, the artist decided to go on his own, releasing El Sr. González y Los Cuates de Chamba in 1998, getting the video for the song "Escribiéndole" awarded at Pantalla de Cristal's Festival. In November of 1999, Sr. González recorded La Vida=El Viaje.
