Acoustic Guitar magazine : StanLassiter's 'The Rose and the Nightingale is about as unclassifiable a chunk of solo guitar pieces as I have ever encountered . As I listened the first time. I kept saying to myself,"Who is this guy?" ...it's a series of slow ,arching arpeggios, building to a set of blinding fast runs...seductive rockstar vibrato...pictorial melody lines... The whole collection has a vaguely flamenco undercurrent.
