Album US 2005 on Rok Lok Records label
Rock (Shoegaze, Indie Rock)
“Nine Untitled Songs” is the first Stars Are Insane release since 2001's out of print “Gay” and was written to have it's compositions selected for use in an original film. Following in the tradition of previous Stars Are Insane releases the songs captured here showcase a wide palette of minimalistic ambient sounds that linger and slowly ebb and flow to create songs out of mere washes of sound. Taking nods from such shoegazing noise torch bearers My Bloody Valentine as well as contemporary atmospheric indie rock giants as Explosions in the Sky, Stars Are Insane is able to take sounds and found melodies that may be deemed useless by the casual songwriter and cultivates such lush compositions that bares more resemblance to atmospherics rather than just songs. “Nine Untitled Songs” should serve as primer to new fans and as an aural listening pleasure to long time fans of this cult four track recording project. Each cd-r comes in an intricate hand made package. Made in two separate pressings of 50 fora total of 100 with varying colors of sleeves.
