Prof. Stella Dimitrova–Maistorova Education (Master degree) from the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia, under professors Julia and Konstantin Ganev (pupils of Heinrich Neuhaus). Numerous participations in the “B. Bartok” International Seminar, Hungary. Studies with Prof. Pal Kadosa, Peter Solymos and Gyula Kiss in Hungary. 1984-85 – specialization at the Brussels Music Academy with Prof. Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. Awards: The “Golden Lyre” (2007) from the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Figures, ClassicFM Radio and the Ministry of Culture; The “Crystal Sign” from the Union of Bulgarian Composers (2007); The “Crystal Lyre” (2006) from the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Figures, ClassicFM Radio and the Ministry of Culture; The “Golden Staff” distinction of the Union of Bulgarian Composers (2005); “The Golden Muse” (1997) of the Russian Cultural and Information Centre in Sofia. Numerous prestigious distinctions from Bulgarian and International competitions in Germany, Romania and Italy. Employment history 1971-81 - State artist – soloist to the Bulgarian Music Directorate. 1975 - visiting assistant to the Piano Department, Instrumental Faculty, National Academy of Music “P.Vladigerov”, Sofia. 1981 - full-time assistant; 1991- full-time associate professor; 1997 – full time professor at the above department. 1990-97 - simultaneously full-time professor in NEO ODIO, Thessaloniki, Greece. 1999 till present – Head of the Piano Department, NAM “P.Vladigerov” 1990 - one of the founders of the Association for Contemporary Music in Bulgaria (Bulgarian section of ISCM) and its Deputy chairman (1990-1999). Performances Intensive concert activity, including repertoire from different genres and epochs and performances in many countries of Europe, as well as in the USSR/Russia and Egypt. Performance in various chamber ensembles and with famous players and singers. Participation in all music festivals in Bulgaria, as well as in the “Interpodium” in Bratislava, Slovakia; the "West Deutsche Rundfung" in Witten, Germany; Europa Musicale Festival in Munich, Germany. Performances under the baton of (a. o.) Bulgarian conductors Кonstantin Iliev, Dobrin Petkov, Vassil Kazandjiev, Georgi Dimitrov, Emil Tabakov, Plamen Djurov, Georgi Notev, Jordan Dafov, Stanislav Ushev, Alexey Izmirliev and international conductors such as Charles Bruck (France), Nikos Athineos (Greece), Uri Mayer (Canada), Jack Bauman (USA), Vaclav Smetaček (Czech Republic), Tomasz Bugay (Poland), Ion Baciu (Romania), Braxton Blake (USA), Thomas Kalb (Germany). First-time performances in Bulgaria of more than 190 works of leading XX and XXI century composers (Prokofiev’s Concerto No.5; Schönberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire”; Boulez’ Sonate No.3, Berio’s Concerto for two pianos and orchestra (with Dimo Dimov); Stravinsky’s Wedding; Cage's Concert for Piano and Orchestra (as a solo piano version); Martinů’s Double Concerto; Bartòk’s Concerto No.3 and Sonata 1925; Webern – "Concerto For Nine Instruments" Op. 24; works of Andre Boucourechliev, Paul Hindemith, Arthur Honegger, Alban Berg, John Cage, Anton Webern, Alfred Schnittke, Hans Werner Henze, Edison Denisov, Rodion Shchedrin, Franck Martin, Arvo Pärt, Benjamin Britten, Anton Webern, Edison Denisov, György Kurtág,.Luigi Dalapiccola etc.). First-time performances of many works by Bulgarian composers, suchas Кonstantin Iliev, Lazar Nikolov, Simeon Pironkov, Vassil Kazandjiev, Ivan Spassov, Julia Tzenova, Dimitar Hristov, Ivelin Dimitrov, Lubomir Denev, Gheorghi Arnaoudov, Roussi Tarmakov, Krasimir Taskov,Milen Panayotov. Gheorghi Minchev, Alexander Yosifov, Bozhidar Dimov, Emil Mirchev. (Many of the Bulgarian composers’ works have been written specially for prof. Dimitrova-Maistorova.) Recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio, RAI (Rome), the radio stations of Cologne, Frankfurt on Main, Bremen, Bucharest and Brussels. Recordings in the Golden Fund of the Bulgarian National Radio. Recordings for the Bulgarian National Television and the Greek ERT-3. Teaching Delivery of master classes in Athens and Thessaloniki. Her students have won more than 95 prizes, (first prizes included) at international competitions in Bulgaria, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, France, Greece and the USA.
