Band formed in 1994 around core members California-based vocalist/producer Sonja Drakulich (with Serbo-Hungarian roots) and multi-instrumentalist Gari Hegedus. Influences are rooted in Turkish, Arabic, Balkan, Medieval European and Persian musical traditions.
