Album DE 2011 on Entschleunigung label
Electronic (Early, Drone, Contemporary)
A set of four double-sided acetate 10" records with recordings of layered end-grooves from early 1900s 78RPM records plus a set of four historical Columbia "Grafonola 201" mechanical-acoustic gramophones from the early 1930s, all restored to perfect working condition by Stephan Mathieu. The acetates can be played back on the Grafonolas using a manually adjustable speed range between appr. 30 to 80RPM, the individual record sides can be combined to form an endless piece, well, depending how long you are into re-winding the mechanisms. A fully wound Grafonola spins for appr. 6 minutes at 78RPM. Comes with 12 special Trailer Needles, historical new old stock from the 1930s, designed for acetate playback. The acetates will desintegrate slowly with each play, while this process is part of the piece. You can play the acetates over and over again. -- Four double-sided 10" acetates in archive sleeves, signed and numbered Four Columbia Grafonola 201 mechanical-acoustic gramophones Twelve trailer needles Limited edition of 1 -- Produced in 2009.
