A.k.a. Stephan Rudolf Weiß
b.: August 17, 1899 (Vienna, Austria) d.: August 13, 1984 (Zürich, Switzerland) Austrian composer. Left his father's jewelry business in Vienna in 1920 and worked with Fritz Spielman and Paul Mann. Composed the music to several operettas in Vienna until he emigrated to the US in 1938. There he had a hit with "Music! Music! Music!". After WWII he returned to Europe and settled in Switzerland. Joined ASCAP in 1966 and seems to have retired from composing at the same time. Stephan Weiss is the name he used to register with ASCAP, but sometimes the spelling Stephen Weiss is used in credits.
