Musician of Folk
Stephen Rees (born 1963 in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire) was educated at Amman Valley Comprehensive School and studied music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He studied piano with Beate Popperwell at the Welsh College of Music and Drama between 1977 and 1981. Appointed lecturer in music at Bangor in 1988, he has taught a wide range of historical subjects from the late middle ages to the twentieth century, as well as harmony and counterpoint, music analysis, music technology, electroacoustic techniques, and traditional fiddle styles. He has a particular interest in the traditional music of Wales and has performed professionally thoroughout the UK, Europe, and North and South America.
