Stephen Smith was born in America and has been living in Switzerland since 1982. His musical career began at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. After graduating in the subjects of organ, church music and conducting in the USA and Switzerland, he dealt intensively with the spiritual repertoire of the Renaissance and the Baroque. He is particularly interested in historical performance practice as well as the links to contemporary music. Hundreds of concerts testify to this with his professional ensembles founded in 1993, Ensemble Corund Lucerne and Corund Barockorchester.
