Blues
"I listen to the radio everyday and I’m always suprised by how many different styles of music are rooted in the Blues: Soul, R&B, Jazz, Country and Western, Rock, Pop. I guess everything except maybe Classical. By changing one chord in a Blues progression a totally different sounding song can be written. This CD attempts to illustrate that idea. A Blues doesn’t have to be a I-IV-V progression but can be a variation on those standard Blues forms. All the tunes on this album are rooted in Blues, and with the exception of one they do not hold to normal blues changes. So leaning heavily on that idea and other musical factors like groove, feel, dynamics, time variation and the unavoidable element of “the human factor” we managed in 3 days to assemble another bag’o’tunes. We had a great time. If you enjoy just one moment in one tune as much as I have enjoyed every second of every tune then it was worthwhile. Play the Blues !" - Steve.
