Steve Howell began his professional career as a teenager in Sarasota, Florida. Music was kind of a "family business" for Steve, who often performed with his brother Mike on bass. From the ages of 13 to 17 he played drums in his brother's band, Works, performing the music of the Beatles, Stones and other British Invasion bands. Pat Ramsey and Steve met in Tallahassee in 1979 and Steve joined Crosscut Saw (another band that featured his brother Mike on bass). Steve remained with Crosscut Saw until 1983, then performed locally with other bands for a few years. Fate seems to draw Steve back to performing with Pat on a regular basis. He was the drummer for the Pat Ramsey Band from 1986 to 1992 and then with The Blues Disciples from 1997 to 2001. Now in 2004, Steve is once again backing The Blues Disciples with his percussive prowess. Steve's recording credits include: Crosscut Saw, "Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know", Pat Ramsey & The Blues Disciples, "Live at the Grand" and Coco Robicheaux, "Hoodoo Party"
