Stick Against Stone is a post-punk band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; that resided in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Brooklyn, New York; Eugene, Oregon and San Francisco, California - initially remaining active (in no less than six incarnations) between 1981 and 1990. The group currently resides in the New York City area. Founded in the post-punk era, the band incorporated elements of no wave, world music, free jazz, reggae, avant-funk, rap, spoken word, ska, dub, African, Latin, samba and art-rock into their music. Releases (on the MediaGroove label) include: "The Index of Directions” - (MG-001 - 2010) (digital only). "Live At Danny's Pub" (MG-002 - 2012) (digital only). "Get It All Out" - Stick Against Stone Orchestra - (MG-003 - 2013) (CD, LP & digital). "The Oregon Bootleg Tapes: LIVE "- (MG-004 - 2014) (CD, digital). "Leonard / The Hopping Frog" (MG-005 - 2014) (7" vinyl single). "Instant" (MG-006 - 2015) (CD, digital) due out 5 November 2015. TMI Records: "Body Motion" - (TMI-015 - 1982) (1 track on a vinyl compilation LP). Self-Released: "Eponymous" - 4 song cassette on their own label (SAS - 1985). In 2011, the group reformed to perform shows in the NYC-area as Stick Against Stone Orchestra in 2011 and 2013, prior to the January 2013 release of "Get It All Out" and in 2015 is working on performing under the name Stick Against Stone in 2016.
