In 1937 the city of Halle acquired the hall located in the Great Nikolaistraße birthplace of the famous composer George Frideric Handel and opened here in 1948, a music museum. In this house, whose history can be traced back with his oldest walls to the Middle Ages, had by 1666 over a hundred years the family lived Handel. Structural changes from this period have significantly influenced the building and left numerous traces.
