For many years, Stig Skovlind has wanted to challenge the 'established' Christmas carols. With this song he has finally done something about it by composing his own Danish noël. And it's not about Christmas pudding, candy canes or gifts under the tree. It's about intimacy and joy. About the importance of being grounded enough to forget the Christmas hustle and instead look at everyday things. About fewer gifts and more hugs. Simply getting 'Christmas down to earth' (which is the title of the song). Stig is very good with words. By combining strong lyrics and a catchy tune he creates a poetic universe like no other. And once again he clearly states that he is a serious and ambitious songwriter beyond the ordinary. The outcome of the partnership with Jan Rørdam as a producer is a catchy and obvious new Christmas classic.
