Band, *1980 GB, Burnage
Electronic
Band from Burnage, Manchester, founded in the summer of 1980, initially around the core of vocalist Tony France, bassist Ged Duffy and drummer Shan Hira. Their unusual name represents a combination of Bowie's then-current Scary Monsters album and a pleasant-sounding Eurocity. Other members included Lita Hira on keyboards, Lindsay Anderson on trumpet, Karl France, John Rhodes. They signed to Factory Records and many releases were produced by Peter Hook of New Order. The band split up in 1987.
