A.k.a. Subconscious

the subconscious is a Bangladeshi band formed in 1998 and explored SUFI Rock, fusion, and funk music. The “Subconscious” is a rock band in Bangladesh known for their crispy and ironical songs. The group of five musicians comprising of Raihan Alamgir Lukan, Johan Alamgir, Nabil Salauddin, Sujoy Ahmed and Shehrina Kamal became famous in 2002. Their early years were mostly spent in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Subconscious came up with 2 solo albums and 1 song in a mixed album. This mixed album, “Projonmo” helped the band to get signed for 3 executive solo albums to be realized with G-Series. That ringed the bell and their first debut album “Matir Deho” (2002) was an immediate hit. This was just after their victory of winning the award of “Benson & Hedges” Star Search competition. In 2004 the band came up with their second album “Tarar Mela” which was one of the highest selling albums in Bangladesh on that very year. This album brought them “Prothom Alo Best Award” for their highest selling of over a million within 3 months since the realizing time. In fact, this group became most successful in 2002 with their song “Bullshit” followed by other bigger hits “Majhi”, “Dukkho dukkho”. They never looked back for next few years after that. Later, in 2008 Jeesanul Bari joined Subconscious and in 2010 Amit replaced Sujoy Ahmed as the bassist. The new wave of popular songs generated an amusing effect among the young generation all over Bangladesh, particularly during 2002-2004. Pop, Sufi-rock with the rhythmic beat of drums AND Percussions, were greatly influenced by Subconscious’ songs. Presently Subconscious, with the current line up of members, is working on the third album and another unplugged album at their own studio in New York, USA. Names of these two coming up albums are still undecided.
