A.k.a. Sue Allan
Born (28/06/1952) in Cumbria, England, with huntsman John Peel of song/tune ‘D’Ye Ken John Peel’ fame in her family (his dates 1777-1854) Sue began singing in folk clubs at age 15, co-founded and performed with Carlisle and Throstles Nest morris teams and the Ellen Valley Band. Sue reverted back to her maiden name Sue Allan in 1992 after divorce. Doctor Sue Allan has been researching and peforming traditional songs, tunes, dances, folk plays, customs and dialect of Cumbria for over thirty years and is now consolidating some of this research on Cumbrian music in her PhD (of necessity, part-time!) as a former research student, in the History Department at Lancaster University.
