Suiciety

Rock and Alternative

Melbourne's Suiciety was perhaps one of the first bands to experiment with the mix of thrash metal and hardcore that would later become known as metalcore. The band began tearing up the nation's stages under the name Ward 13 in 1990, at that time with Doug Dalton on guitar. Shortly after the name change, he was replaced by Varela. Dalton then joined Sydney death metal band Grungeon. Suiciety's debut album was a raging slab of ripper hardcore with more than occasional flashes of blistering metal. After this the band scored supports with the likes of Kreator, Fear Factory, Bolt Thrower, Body Count and Sepultura. Their talent for melding styles was even better defined on Primrose Path. Coupled with such high quality releases was the Suiciety live show--a furiously dynamic whirlwind which never failed to please. The 'Cell' EP was the band's first release for BMG, a slightly less chaotic issue than previously, but good nonetheless and showed plenty of promise for a future release. After this however, the band completely disappeared. Doug Dalton later joined Sydney thrash band Dark Order and is now with Killrazer.
