Sula Mae is a singer – songwriter from South London. Her EP was recorded in 2014 at Cryout Studios by JJ Rosa and Jimmy Wood, and is largely influenced by the Bristol- bred Trip Hop sounds of Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky. Vocally, she is influenced by the jazz greats: Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin. Her experience as a jazz singer for the band Time Capsule largely enhanced this stylistic technique. There is also a bit of folk thrown into the mix, with Mauro Serra on charango, the Argentinian ten string ukelele. Her band also includes Charlie Keegan on sample pad / drums, Anthony T Jackson on synths and Wayne Maslin on bass / trombone
