Sultans Of Šund

Band,
Singer

Fictional band from the Croatian musical sitcom "Nad lipom 35". They play in the bar called "Je l' me netko tražio?" although singers sing with playback. Band contains "Nad lipom 35" characters dressed in black suits, black hats and black sunglasses. They name is a parody on Sultans Of Sound. Word "šund" in Croatian means "musical garbage" and refers to bad songs. The reason why's that word used is that guests of the bar and bar's employees consider that music is disaster. Every joke (it's a sitcom) starts with: "Disaster!" and someone says something bad about music (e.g. "But people love it." and "I don't know who writes lyrics.") and then first person says: "I don't mean music." and etc. First and only song they ever released was "Tako je, Miki" (eng. Right, Miki) with bar's waitress Konobarica Miki portrayed by Nives Ivanković. It was the entry for 14th Croatian Radio Festival.
