Hip-Hop/Rap
Suprême NTM (or simply NTM) is a French hip hop group formed in 1989, in Seine-Saint-Denis. The group comprises rappers Joey Starr (born Didier Morville) and Kool Shen (born Bruno Lopez (2)). Their six albums were released by Epic. According to an NTM interview given to Les Inrocks in 2000, they were sometimes hanging around a young Colt (8) in Chatelet Les Halles (Paris) while the band was looking for a name, Colt just tagged "N-I-C-K Tahmaire" on the wall, thus becoming their stage name. In 1998, the group released its last album of original material under the NTM moniker, as both Joey Starr and Kool Shen started their own labels, promoting new bands and branching out in other fields such as the clothing industry. While officially the band still exists, and released in 2001 a 'clash' album pitting the two label's artists against each other, Kool Shen was quoted in 2004 saying "We were done with NTM in 1998".
