Band, LT
Rock
Svastikos Sukitės Greitai (Swastikas Turn Quickly) and is a rephrase of Francis Picabia’s painting Machine Turn Quickly. Lithuanian alternative rock band formed in 1988 by Algis Ramanauskas and Darius Karvelis. Band’s frontman Algis Ramanauskas nowadays is a well-known TV comedian/director/TV producer in Lithuania. Band's lyrics mirror political and social issues in a sarcastic light with a grain of irony. The sound of early tunes best described as Sonic Youth, Pixies, The Jesus and Mary Chain influenced guitar noise mixed with the beats of house music. Today's sounds more sophisticated: one can hear influences of Frank Zappa, ELP, Igor Stravinsky, John McLaughlin, Drum'n'Bass, Scandinavian jazz, Steely Dan. Current lineup: Algis Ramanauskas: bass, vocals Justas Keliuotis Juozas Martinkėnas Giedrė Rimšaitė Dovydas Kumpikevičius Darius Rudis Former members: Darius Karvelis Algis Drėma Violeta Riaubiškytė
