A.k.a. Koris Tālava
The Tālava choir is a part of the Moscow Latvian Culture Society. It was set up in February 1993 through the efforts of Tamara Semicheva, a graduate of the Ventspils Music College and the St.Petersburg State Conservatory. A great support to the choir formation has been given by Latvia's Ambassador to Russia Jānis Peters and Attache for the community issues Lauma Vlasova. Over the past twenty years the choir has given about 150 concerts, it's repertoire comprises over 200 classic and modern compositions performed in ten different languages. In 2007 Tālava released a disc of Latvian traditional songs titled "Teici, teici, valodiņa" (A song of the native tongue) dedicated to the collector of the Latvian dainas K.Barons. Tālava is a prize-winner of various Russian and overseas festivals and contests, notably, Moscow choral festivals, J.Brahms Competition in Germany (Silver medal), A.Bruckner Competition in Austria (Silver medal) etc. From 1998 onwards Tālava has been participating in all Latvian Song Festivals, beginning from 1997 - in Nordic-Baltic Choral Festivals (Sweden, Norway, Lithuania and Iceland). In 2009 the choir took part in the First All-Russian Latvian Culture Festival in Bashkortostan. There have been numerous tours to Russian towns (Vologda, Kursk, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Pskov, Suzdal and other). The choir's motto is "Born singing, live singing"...
