Canadian composer. Born 23 April 1919 in Liepāja, Latvia, died 20 January 2008 in Toronto, Canada. He studied composition at the Conservatory of Latvia (1940-1944). After World War II he continued studies at the Paris Conservatory of Music where his teachers were Tony-Aubin and Olivier Messiaen. In 1951 he emigrated to Canada.
