Around for more than 20 years, the DJ, producer and digger Tahira features another eclectic and instructive djing which blends genres and eras, from traditional sounds to the electronic mixtures from the DJ culture. His work is hugely influenced by African, Latin, Brazilian, jazz, 70s funk, disco and soul music. Productionwise, his two last releases - Dr Estereo “Cumbia Perdida” (Tahira Afro-Cumbia Remix) and Gilberto Gil “Toda Menina BAiana” (Tahira Re-edit) - have been getting positive feedback from DJ culture legends such as François K, Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Nickodemus, Lefto, Jo Jo Flores, Alex From Tokyo, DJ Izem, Mop Mop, Ease from Nightmares on Wax, Whiskey Barons and even Gilberto Gil himself, who posted Tahira’s version on Twitter and Facebook. His netlabel EBS Diggin promotes contemporary sounds taken from the Brazilian underground scene and its rich diversity. Once more, the focus ranges from the tradition to the electronic music. The label’s releases have been attracting worldwide attention and getting the deserved space on podcasts and radio shows all around the planet. With ears always open to the past, present and future of music in the most diverse styles, Tahira is one of the few DJs active in different music scenes, from jazz festivals, Brazilian, African and Latin music parties, experimental music projects, lounges, shows to electronic music clubs.
