Talie Ferree, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is a bassoonist with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. Before her enlistment, Airman Ferree was a freelance bassoonist in the Chicagoland and Greater St. Louis area - with frequented trips between the two great cities, performing with the St. Louis Gateway Festival Orchestra, the Chapel of the Cross - Lutheran ensemble, St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville Orchestra as well as the Chicago Symphonic Winds, and a multitude of student ensembles within the School of Music of DePaul University. In the United States, Talie Ferree has had the privilege to study with Bill Buchman, Miles Maner, George Sakakeeny, Bob Barris, Bob Mottl, Doug Spaniol, Robert Jordan, and Bill Ludwig. A National Honors Society member and graduate from DePaul University with Summa Cum Lauda with a Bachelors of Music - Bassoon Performance and a minor in German, Talie has travelled to Germany and Austria several times - and has studied with Milan Turkovic in Vienna. Airman Ferree has previously participated in prestigious music festivals such as the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina and is currently an associate member with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In high school, Talie participated in the Missouri All-State Orchestra for three consecutive years - ranking 1st in state both junior and senior years. Airman Ferree's loves for metalworking, hiking, baking, and swimming - which keeps her busy while she is not sharing her love for music on the bassoon.
