A.k.a. Tamar Estine Braxton Tamar Braxton

Tamar Estine Braxton (born in Severn, Maryland, on March 17, 1977) is an American R&B singer. She is the youngest sister of Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Toni Braxton, youngest cousin of West Coast rapper Xzibit and is a member of the reunited R&B sibling group, The Braxtons. During the early teens, Tamar (along with her four sisters) was intensed by their mother with their singing phrase (lead by herself), "Somebody, give me some toilet paper!". By the mid-80s, Tamar was inducted to a gospel choir along with the other sisters, while Evelynn was working as a therapist and opera singer. In 1990, The Braxtons were signed to the now-defunct Arista Records, because of Toni. The result was "Good Life", which was a commercial disappointment. Nonetheless, The Braxtons (minus Toni) were all dropped from Arista, before they performed a showcase for L.A. Reid and Babyface's label, LaFace. Toni was the only one signed, while the other sisters were her backup singers at the time. In 1995, Tamar, Towanda, Traci and Trina all reunited under their group name, The Braxtons, and thought to be signed to LaFace, but their deal with the label was short-lived after its former A&R VP, Bryant Reid, was granted by his brother, L.A., to be dismissed from LaFace. He also transferred the group along with him, hence the fact that LaFace wouldn't sign another all-female group because of TLC and their success despite their and Toni's bankruptcies. Later in 1996, while Traci was under child care, her three standing sisters (under their group name), signed to Atlantic by Bryant Reid and Craig Kallman, released their one and only album as a trio titled So Many Ways that November. Due to decreasing sale competition with Mobb Deep's Hell on Earth and Foxy Brown's Ill Na Na, the album made a poor performance on the charts at #113 on the Billboard 200. The Braxtons all broke up in 1998, with Tamar still pursuing her solo career. In 1999, she signed to DreamWorks Records (which was later absorbed into Interscope Records), released her solo debut singles, "Get None" (featuring Amil and Jermaine Dupri) and "If You Don't Wanna Love Me", and later dropped her solo debut, Tamar (in March 2000), but it debuted at #132 on the Billboard 200, due to poor sales, lack of promotion and hard record sale competition with Santana's multi-platinum selling effort, Supernatural, NSYNC's No Strings Attached, D'Angelo's VooDoo and Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP later on. Throughout 2004-08, news broke that Tamar was married to her sister Toni's long-time partner, Vincent Herbert. They both agreed that they were married. By 2008, she signed to Casablanca Records and her husband's label, Streamline Records (which was distributed by Universal Republic at the time, but later Interscope, which absorbed DreamWorks into it). Two years later, she released several untitled singles (some featuring Rell, Monica and her cousin Xzibit). Only one was titled "I'm Leaving" (featuring Bump J). None of them ever made success, which forced UMG to drop her for good. Since the spring of 2011, Toni, Tamar, Traci, Towanda and Trina; their mother Evelynn and father Michael, Sr. all recruited for a WE TV reality show called Braxton Family Values. Several family members make cameo/short appearances on each episode. The next year, she made her own spin-off with her husband, Vincent, simply called Tamar and Vince under the same network. In 2013, she was pregnant with Herbert's child, Logan, who was later born on May 27. She also made her return to the music business with the release of "Love & War", which debuted at #12 on the Hot R&B Songs chart, making it her first successful-charting single to date. Later that year, the single was certified platinum by the RIAA for digital sales of 1 million copies. She also released "The One" as a follow-up, which also made gold status. That September, she released an album under the same name as the single, Love & War, for Streamline/Epic Records. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 behind Ariana Grande's Yours Truly, giving both ladies their Top 5 hit albums on the charts. She later released her first Holiday compilation, Winter Loversland, which made #3 on the Holiday Albums chart two slots apart from Mary J. Blige's A Mary Christmas. In the end of 2014, she released a promotional single, "Let Me Know" (featuring Future (4)), to help promote her third studio album. In May 2015, she released "If I Don't Have You", which peaked at #5 on the Adult R&B Songs chart. After facing only four delays throughout the third quarter, her third effort, Calling All Lovers was finally released on October 2, 2015, the same day as Janet Jackson's Unbreakable. Both made the numbers one and two spots on the R&B Albums chart, respectively. Despite her renewal of her career, Tamar had since became a co-host, along with Adrienne Bailon, Tamera Mowry, "Lonnie" Love and Jeannie Mai on a talk show that recites beauty, love, media and art among women called The Real, that first premiered on BET and several national broadcast channels in 2013 and then, in 2015, Tamar Braxton also reunited with the Braxtons once again with a release of a compilation of Christmas-stylized tracks, Braxton Family Christmas, for the first time together as five siblings in a group since 1990. In December 2015, The 7 Rivalries in 7 Days was the most controversial event in music rivalry history. Involved in this event, on Day 2, Tamar Braxton started her highly-publicized feud with female rapper Dej Loaf. Despite the fact that Tamar (herself) has also been involved in other past feuds with K. Michelle, Gwen Stefani and Lauryn Hill, the Tamar Braxton–Dej Loaf beef is the more universally-publicized music rivalry of the female music industry.
