Tania Giannouli is a pianist, composer and improviser from Athens, Greece. Her music for theatre, film and video has been performed at festivals, galleries, biennales and museums throughout the world. Her compositions have been described as lyrical, inspired, complex, eclectic, and highly original – intoxicating orchestrations characterized by a European sensibility that evokes the color of the Mediterranean. Her concert music has been performed by Camerata / Armonia Atenea String Orchestra, Dissonart Ensemble, Athens Youth Orchestra and Galaxy String Quartet. Her album, "Forest Stories" (released by Rattle Records in December, 2012), received wide international acclaim, and in 2014 she formed the Tania Giannouli Ensemble (2nd Syros Jazz festival, Onassis Cultural Centre) with whom she recorded her second album for Rattle, “Transcendence” (released by Rattle in May 2015). "Transcendence" got excellent reviews worldwide and was included in many "best of 2015" lists in Greece, Canada, Portugal and Korea. More: www.taniagiannouli.eu
