Album DE 1928 on Odeon label
Jazz and Pop
A - Foxtrott B - Waltz Both sides were recorded by Dajos Béla first on August 11 of 1928 in Berlin, but the takes cut on that session were rejected. However, Béla was allowed to remade both sides on August 16 of 1928 in Berlin, & those remakes were issued on Odeon O-2548 with "Ramona" being also issued on Odeon A-221066 & Gloria GO-27261. The information regarding the recording dates & issues comes from the Lindström Project discography of Odeon matrixes ranging from Be-250 to Be-9999: http://discography.phonomuseum.at/odeon/odmxBe00250.pdf Link to the Lindström Project website: http://discography.phonomuseum.at/ The vocalists on "Constantinople" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipqaXx4y9-I) aren't mentioned in the files, but i'm pretty sure that they're Rex Allen & another man. Rex Allen was Béla's pianist & vocalist since the end of 1926. Allen came to Germany first as member of Bobbie Hind's London Sonora Band on 1924 (more info about Hind's band on this link: http://grammophon-platten.de/page.php?503), & joined Béla after Hind & the rest of the group left Germany & his first recordings with Béla as the band's pianist & singer are among others "Blue Skies" & "My Blue Heaven". As for the rest of the personnel, i detect Howard Osmond McFarlane (aka Howard (O.) McFarlane & "Mac") on trumpet & Mike Danzi's banjo, just to mention a few.
