Tardkraft IV: The Dark Side Of The Moron

Album CA 2011 on Blood 'N' Tongue label
Electronic (Abstract, Ambient, Experimental)

TIME-FIX: 02-04.09.2011 GEO-FIX: Salt Spring Island, BC These recordings were created during a 4 day, 3 night trip to Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. This was ostensibly a "camping" trip and an opportunity to do some outdoor music making in a new environment. This excursion would prove to be a very intense and enjoyable, if exhausting, experience for all involved. The trip involved a ferry ride over to the island which was made immensely tolerable by breaking out the portable sound devices and having an impromptu jam session on the outdoor observation deck at the aft of the ferry. Our jam was quickly noticed by several people who were fascinated with the micro synths and battery powered speakers & amps being used. One person even asked to get a "copy of the MP3" we were playing and was rather surprised to find out that all the sounds were being created "live". A couple of people also joined in for a bit of a jam with us using an iPad for one person and a ukulele by another. Once we were on the island, we settled into our base home and set up tents in the yard and a music space next to the tents. The rest of the weekend was a blur of intoxication and music making to a point of psychic transcendence which left an indelible mark on those participating. We all felt like we'd been part of something special and that we'd all come out of it with some new insights into ourselves and what we are doing with these projects. The "music" (or whatever that noise is) we captured on this trip can only give a faint glimmer of an indication of what we experienced as we were making these sounds. They are a feeble residue of what happened. The real experiences remain within those involved. They can't be communicated literally. Only primitive allegories even come close to telling this story. The best stories can never be told, however. They are the precious gems that we carry within us which illuminate our pasts and light the way to our futures.
