Singer of Jazz and Classical
When studying at a music college in her native Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine), destiny brought Tatyana Komova to Mikhail Tsygutkin's Gamma ensemble that vocally interpreted instrumental music by Bach, Mozart, and Vivaldi. The ensemble performed at various jazz festivals, including one in Moscow. In 1983 Tatiana moved to Moscow. On entering the Institute of Culture she started to perform jazz. At the same time she could be heard on radio and TV performing Bach and Rimsky-Korsakov. In 1986 her talent was demanded by the world-famous Gypsy ensemble, The Romen trio, which two years later transformed into her duet with Georgy Kvik. Duet Romen was warmly greeted in more than 30 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Israel. Duo's 3 CDs enjoyed good sales and critical acclaim in Russia. In 1995, she was awarded the title of Merited Artist of Russia. Komova's connection with jazz was never broken, though. Now her interests lie in the sphere of modern blends of jazz, classical, and traditional music of various ethnic cultures.
