Single UK 1963 on Decca label
Rock
On both labels: "Production: Michael Barclay for Impact Sound" The Rolling Stones recorded two versions of "Poison Ivy" on 16 July 1963. This is the second version, with percussion during the chorus, and the first version (without percussion) is the one which appeared on the "The Rolling Stones" EP (Decca DFE.8560) in 1964. This record had been scheduled in 1963 as The Rolling Stones' second single. However it was withdrawn before release. Some copies had been made, though. Instead, I Wanna Be Your Man / Stoned (Decca F.11764) became the second Rolling Stones UK single. The two tracks from the withdrawn single were eventually released on the 1964 Decca "Saturday Club" compilation (LK 4583). For the first time ever, ABKCO Records is releasing all mono studio recordings released by The Rolling Stones in the 1960s in one unique historic collection. Exclusive to uDiscover in 2016 was a 'Super Deluxe Collector's Bundle' of 'The Rolling Stones In Mono' box set, which included nine Limited Edition 7" 45s (each limited to 1,000 worldwide) replicating classic Rolling Stones singles with local artwork and rare tracks in mono. The 7"s were available individually in stores across the world (Eg: The UK style packaging of 'Poison Ivy / Fortune Teller' was available at HMV stores in the UK), with a very limited quantity of all 9 x 7”s available only on uDiscover when pre-ordering the Rolling Stones In Mono box sets.
