US vocal group formed in 1954 at John Muir High School, Pasadena, CA. Original members were: Lee Goudeau (lead tenor), Chester Pipkin (tenor and guitar), Dewey Terry (falsetto), Henry Johnson (bass), and Freeman Stevens (tenor). Managed by Thomas Goudeau (Lee's father) Freeman Stevens replaced by baritone Bobby Armstrong. Don Bowman added (tenor and piano). First release Oct 54 on Kicks - Lucy Lou / A Dream Come True Henry Johnson left, to be replaced by bass Leon Washington. Recorded cover version EPs as "Blue Jays" on Dig This Record, 1955 Recorded for Larry Mead - one on Mambo, five on Vita. Aladdin release - quartet: Lee Goudeau, tenor Chester Pipkin, baritone Bobby Armstrong, and bass Leon Washington. Not to confuse with The Squires (16) on Combo Records also from California.
