Forming in 1966, The Accents hailed from Providence, Rhode Island. The original band consisted of Joseph Tutalo (lead guitar, vocals), Del Lufkin (bass), Joseph Salgueiro (hammond organ, vocals), Steven Fallone (drums, vocals), and Ricky Paolucchi (lead, rhythm, and 12-string guitar, vocals). The Accents recorded their 1968 single “Birds In My Tree” / “She Cried” at Planet Records in Providence.
