A.k.a. Opera Australia Orchestra The Elizabethan Sydney Orchestra
The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra (since 2017 now called Opera Australia Orchestra) is based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is a full-time salaried orchestra managed by Opera Australia and is one of three salaried orchestras in Sydney, along with the The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Until 1991, The Opera Australia Orchestra (and its Melbourne cousin Orchestra Victoria) were previously known as The Elizabethan Sydney Orchestra and The Elizabethan Melbourne Orchestra respectively, established by the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust in the mid-1960s.
