A.k.a. They Might Be Giants
The Avatars Of They are the sock-puppet alter egos of They Might Be Giants. The duo consists of "Blue Avatar" (John Flansburgh) and "Green Avatar" (John Linnell). The puppets often appear (via camera and projector) at live TMBG shows to perform one or two songs. They are sometimes joined by other (cardboard cut-out) guests. Early on, it was assumed that the Avatars would release an album; however, John Linnell quickly dispelled these rumors. In spite of this, the Avatars have "released" an EP, containing their first four studio recordings, due to popular demand. The puppets were constructed by John Flansburgh's wife, Robin Goldwasser.
