A.k.a. Australian Army Band Perth The Western Command Band

The Western Command Band was formed in 1949 as a brass band. After an Army reorganisation in 1972 all bands were either disbanded or renamed after the military district in which they were located and it became The Band of the 5th Military District and converted to a concert band. As a result of organisational changes in 1991, the titles of all bands were changed to unique names which would provide a clear Army and geographical identity and it was renamed Australian Army Band Perth.
