Band, US
Blues and R&B/Soul
The Carter Bros., Roman and Albert, along with Jerry, their now deceased brother and friend Jimmy 'Magoo' Carter formed a band in high school in Southern California where they had relocated from Alabama. They first recorded in 1958 and had a hit record (minus Jimmy Carter), “Southern Country Boy,” on Jewel Records in 1965 which reached a placing of twenty one on Billboard’s R&B chart. Shortly thereafter, their recording career was over and they continued to play local clubs and took day jobs. In 1996, they reappeared on a Japanese label which resulted in tours abroad where they were greeted by enthusiastic fans seeking their autographs on collections of their old albums. They received acclaim for their appearance at the 2007 San Francisco Blues Festival and are now back on the club circuit with a show that combines their gospel influence with blues and R&B.
