The initial idea for The Catherines came to Heiko Schneider from Hamburg, Germany, early 2017 out of frustration. Because his work on a few other musical projects had become a bit stressful and complicated he wanted something really simple and on his own. So his dogma was: write, play, sing, record a-song-a-day! That combined with his love for all that is jangly and twee-ish and lo-fi and noisy and C-86-esque gave birth to The Catherines. With a bunch of guitars, a bass and some nifty drum-samples he sat down in his tiny home studio in Hamburg and completed his first song in about three hours! Over the weeks and months the approach became a bit more sophisticated here and there, so it took Heiko whole three evenings to write and produce his latest. He hopes it doesn’t sound overproduced nevertheless…
